Central Village
Station No. 1 |

54 Hix Bridge Road  Westport, MA 02790

With construction beginning in May of 2009, the new Central Village fire station was one of the largest municipal projects in Westport in over 30 years. This station is designed to meet the needs of the department well into the future accommodating not only the firefighters but administration, fire prevention, training, and Emergency Management.  The training room is designed to be easily converted into the Town's Emergency Operations Center in the event of a man-made or natural disaster. Firefighters began working from the new station in July 2010.

| Station No. 2 |

85 Briggs Road  Westport, MA 02790

Opening in 1970 this is the first ever town-owned fire station. Until the construction of Station No. 2, the Town had leased buildings for use as fire stations. Originally designed with only 3 apparatus bays and accommodations for only 2 firefighters, the department quickly outgrew the station leading to many modifications and a 4 bay addition in 1999. The station is home to the Westport Fire Department’s Firefighter Memorial dedicated in October of 2002.

History

One night in 1927 a group of men out bowling were told that the Town Shed was on fire. When they arrived they found not the shed but the woods adjacent to the shed ablaze. Collectively they determined to organize and on November 28, 1927 the Westport Volunteer Fire Company is formed.
